Several years ago my health was at an all-time low. I had chronic fatigue, a never-ending brain fog, my hormones were all over the show and my digestive system a mess. Even if I slept for 10 hours I felt like I had a huge party the day before and had a massive hangover, just without the actual fun. Needless to say, when you feel like that every day is a struggle and you won’t get very far in your life. I have been on a mission to heal myself for years now and although I still have a journey ahead of me, I can say I have already completely transformed my health. I have become one of those annoying people that wake up at 7 without an alarm and can’t wait to start the day. These are the 8 ultimate health hacks that I do on an almost daily basis that helped me transform my health. I know trying to get your health back can be expensive and take up a lot of your time. These ultimate health hacks are all cheap or even for free, take up little time while getting maximum benefits from them. You are welcome!

1. Tongue scraping

Tongue scraping is an age-old Ayurvedic self-care ritual. It is the very first thing I do when I wake up every single morning. I walk to the bathroom to scrape my tongue and I am truly obsessed with it! Without failure, I find this pretty disgusting white layer on my tongue. Your body is working all night when you are sleeping to detox and get rid of all the toxins. Toxins are eliminated during your sleep (meds anti insomnia meds here https://ringandfitness.com/meds/ambien-online/) through sweating and through your mouth, which also explains the morning breath. All the toxins, fungus and bacteria are being deposited on your tongue. When you wake up and start with drinking water without scraping your tongue you basically just flush all those nastiness that your body worked so hard for to release all night, right back into your body. Tongue scraping will help your digestion, give your immune system a boost and helps you to get rid of stinky morning breath. It is super cheap, you can just use a spoon and the ritual is done within a few minutes.

2. Oil pulling

Another technique that helps your body detoxify in the morning. This is another old Ayurvedic method to eliminate all the toxins that collect in your mouth. I do this right after the tongue scraping. I put a little coconut oil in my mouth and swirl it around for 15 minutes. It pulls all the bad bacteria together on your tongue and you can eliminate them easily by spitting the oil out. Oil pulling promotes a healthy immune system, clarity in your head and clearer skin and can be done while you are getting ready. In addition, it is the best teeth whitener I know and all natural.

3. Meditation

My meditation is the one non-negotiable in my daily practice. Meditation is not just a way to be calmer or to enhance your ability to focus. It is one of the biggest contributors to my mental AND physical health. Your mental health is directly impacting your physical health and the other way around. When you have a worrisome thought about the future, you might notice an unpleasant feeling in your gut or chest. Or when you find yourself stressing about work you might notice that you get a headache or you feel like you have little energy. If you can feel the results of one stream of thoughts on your body immediately, you can only imagine what the long-term effect on your body is of a stressed-out mind. A lot of people that worry a lot or suffer from anxiety create a hormonal imbalance and gut problems as a result. Therefore, you can not heal yourself by solely focussing on the physical aspect, you have to direct your mental health as well. I find meditation the single most effective thing to do to balance myself, feel grounded and have a healthier and happier mind and therefore also a healthier body.

4. Coffee enemas

Yes, I am indeed talking about putting coffee in your bum by yourself.  And no, it is not as difficult or gross as it sounds. I doubted for a long period of time about doing this myself since the idea of it is the opposite of compelling. However, when I tried it for the first time myself it was surprisingly easy to do and the results are amazing. You will feel so much lighter and clean, which is probably because you literally release so much sh*t from your body. It will help your body tremendously to eliminate toxins, parasites and bad bacteria from your gut and create a clean and healthy gut environment. At the same time it detoxifies and helps to repair the liver too. It is said to reduce toxicity by up to 600%. Major health hack!

5. Aloe Vera

Next to my coconut oil obsession (I use it for literally everything), my other miracle product is Aloe Vera. This magical bit of nature has many good uses, but the way to use it which is unknown for many is to drink it. If you have access to good quality aloe vera (not the sugary fake ones in the supermarket), do yourself a favor and drink that goodness every single day. It is the best prebiotic that you can find and does a wonderful job cleaning out your gut. It basically prepares your gut environment for all the good bacteria to settle and is amazing for detoxing your body.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

I start every morning with a glass of apple cider vinegar. I know it isn’t the tastiest thing but it does wonders for your health. Just remember: apple cider vinegar is your best friend. Drinking a glass of water with your ACV in it will start your digestion, immediately gives your gut a boost with healthy bacteria and alkalizes your body. No better way to start your day. Make sure you get the apple cider vinegar with the mother, which is that greasy looking stuff that is in it, that is the stuff you actually want.

7. Bone Broth

As being a pescetarian for the past 12 years I wasn’t too eager to start making my own bone broth. You might wonder what can possibly be good about the soup made out of bones and this will definitely surprise you. The soup is full of vitamins and minerals that your body will be eternally grateful for. If there is something that you want to add to your diet, make it bone broth. The soup is full of gelatin which is amazing for the leaky gut syndrome. It helps to seal up the holes in the intestines and therefore helps to cure food intolerances. In addition, the broth is a beautiful source of collagen that helps your body to fight wrinkles and results in radiant skin, hair, and nails. I say it is a win-win.

8. Breathing

Breath is life. It is as simple as that. We can go without food for a while, we can even go without water for a while. But we can not survive without oxygen for even a few minutes. Basically, the more oxygen we get the healthier we are. Unfortunately, we run around being busy all day and have lots of stress in our life. As a result, we forget to breathe properly and our breath becomes shallow and higher and we have less oxygen. Therefore it is important to take the time to take a few proper belly breaths every day. If you take a few big breaths it will instantly increase your energy, it will lessen your stress and it will aid digestion. Especially taking a few belly breaths before your meal will help you to calm down and properly digest your meal.
